Data visualization program - Promptly

UI Design
Context
While working as a Product Designer at a Portuguese company called Promptly, I participated in a project focused on helping healthcare researchers analyze large-scale clinical data. The goal was to enable users to identify which treatments, procedures, and medications produced the best results for different diseases. Although the UX framework was already established, my main focus was on improving the interface design and data visualization, ensuring clarity, consistency, and usability in a complex analytical context.
Challenge
Researchers needed to explore and compare vast amounts of medical data. The challenge was to translate complex datasets into intuitive visual insights while maintaining visual consistency with the existing design system and supporting accurate decision-making.
As the UI designer in this project, I focused on refining the visual hierarchy and enhancing the readability of data-heavy dashboards. My main contributions included:
• Designing reusable data visualization components (bar charts, line charts and comparative tables).
• Redefining the visual hierarchy to prioritize clarity and quick interpretation.
• Adjusting the color palette to improve accessibility and contrast.
• Collaborating closely with developers to ensure accurate implementation.
• Even without a formal research phase, I worked closely with internal stakeholders to validate usability decisions and iterate on design details based on team feedback.

Results
The redesigned dashboards made it easier for researchers to identify trends and patterns across large datasets, improving both visual clarity and decision-making efficiency.This project strengthened my ability to design data-driven interfaces and balance visual design with functional complexity, especially in scientific and analytical products.
Key Learnings
Working on this project taught me how to deliver meaningful design outcomes under constraints, using visual principles to simplify complexity.It also reinforced the importance of communicating data effectively, ensuring that information remains both accurate and accessible for users in technical fields.
